APPLESAUCE

Ingredients

  • 3 to 4 pounds apples, peeled, cored, and sliced.
  • 4 strips lemon peel - use a vegetable peeler to strip 4 lengths.
  • Juice of one lemon, about 3-4 Tbsps
  • 2 tsps cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup dark brown sugar
  • up to 1/4 cup white sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 tsp salt

Preparation

Step 1

Put all ingredients in a large pot. Cover. Bring to a boil. Lower heat and simmer for 20-30 minutes.

Remove from heat. Remove lemon peels. Put through food mill. Spoon into freezer jars. Keeps up to 1 year in a cold freezer.
