Ethel's Sugar Cookies

Ingredients

  • 3/4 C. butter, softened (or half crisco)
  • 1 C. sugar
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 1/2 C. flour
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt

Preparation

Step 1

Beat butter, sugar, vanilla and eggs in large bowl at medium speed. Stir in flour, baking powder and salt. Cover and refrigerate about 1 hour till firm.

Heat oven to 375* Roll half of dough at a time 1/8" thick on lightly floured surface. Cut into desired shapes. Place about 2" apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 6-8 minutes or until very light brown. Cool on wire rack.
