Hot Water Corn Bread

This is so good fresh from the pan. My older sister would make this for me when our mother was not around for dinner. We would eat this and nothing else!

Ingredients
- 2 * 2 cups water
- 2 * 2 cups cornmeal
- 1/4 * 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 * 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 * 1 egg
- 1/2 * 1/2 cup oil

Preparation
Step 1
Bring water to a boil. Sift together cornmeal, sugar and salt. Gradually add hot water to cornmeal mixture to form stiff consistency. Beat in egg.
Heat oil.
Using your hands,form cornmeal mixture into patties approximately 4" in diameter. Carefully place patties into hot oil and cook until golden on both sides.
