Ingredients

  • 1/1 /4 Cup Milk
  • 1/2 Cup margerine
  • 1/4 Cup Crisco
  • 1 large cake yeast
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • Dash of tumeric
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 3 eggs
  • NUT FILLING
  • 2 1/2 lbs of walnuts
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 c warm milk
  • Dash vanilla
  • PoppySeed

Preparation

Step 1

Add milk, margerine and crisco together and heat until melted and cool.

Crumble yeast in cup and sprinkle with sugar and rest for 10 minutes.

Put sugar, salt, tumeric into large bowl, add the lukewarm milk mixture, and yeast, eggs, vanilla. Mix this well. Add flour all at once and mix with wooden spoon. Knead by hand in bowl just a little. This dough will be sticky. cover with a towel and set in warm place for 1 1/2 hour. Punch down and divide into 6 pieces. roll on floured tupperware plastic, very thin about 12x 18 rectangle, spread with nuts. Roll let rise for another 1/2 hour. bake at 350 f for 35 minutes. Brush with thin coating of oil while still warm.

NUT FILLING
Mix 1 1/2 cup of nits, 1tsp vanilla, cinnamon, 1/2 c sugar, 1/4c warm milk, dash vanilla. Mix nut mixture for each roll separately to avoid guess work. make sure your nut mixture is qite soft even if you need to add more milk. You may also spread this roll with poppyseed from a can already prepared.
