Sloppy Marinated Cole Slaw

Great recipe handed down from my grandmother, Nannie, to my mother to me. This one is always my responsibility for family occasions and holidays!
Ingredients
- SLAW
- 1 head cabbage
- 1 green pepper
- 1/4 sweet onion
- MARINADE
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup vegetable oil
- 1 cup cider vinegar
- 1 tsp. dry mustard
- 1-3 tsp. celery seed
- dash of salt

Step 1
Thinly slice cabbage, green pepper and onion. Layer in large sealable bowl. Pour one cup sugar over top.
Prepare marinade. Put oil, vinegar, dry mustard, salt and celery seed in a small pot on the stove and bring just to a boil. Stir with a wire whisk. Cool 5 minutes, then pour over cabbage mixture. Cover bowl and place in refrigerator overnight. Occasionally flip bowl to redistribute marinade.
To serve, drain and place in a pretty glass bowl.
