GRANDMA JENNY'S KETCHUP

Toby's Grandmother, Jenny Shearer Rode, recipe. Once you have this ketchup, NONE OTHER quite measures up!!! Heinz should take a lesson from Grandma Jenny!!

Ingredients

  • MIX TOGETHER:
  • l large bowl of ripe tomatoes, quartered and cored
  • 1 pint vinegar
  • 3 TBS salt
  • 3 cups sugar
  • NEXT 4 INGREDIENTS MAY BE INCREASED OR DECREASED:
  • 1/2 tsp. allspice
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. dry mustard
  • 1/4 tsp. cloves

Preparation

Step 1

Steam tomatoes in a little bit of water - cook until soft; about 2 hours.
Put in a colander and drain a little.

Squeeze tomatoes through a sieve or cheese cloth. Add vinegar mixture. Bottle.
