White Barbeque Sauce

By

Alabama style. It's great served over freshly grilled chicken or pork and equally as fine a dipping sauce for shrimp and other seafood.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup prepared horseradish
  • 3 tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp worcestershire sauce (white wine)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp minced onion
  • 1/4 tsp hot sauce (I use Tabasco)
  • 1 garlic clove, minced

Preparation

Step 1

Combine all ingredients in a nonporous container and refrigerate for 8 hours (will not taste good if used right away) in order for the flavors to be in harmony. Allow to come to room temperature prior to use. NOTES: There are quicker versions of white BBQ sauce but they are not nearly as flavorful as this one so it's worth the wait. Do not pour directly over heat or baste on meats removed immediately from the grill as the sauce may separate. Allow the meat to rest for five minutes and then pour the sauce over the meat. I sprinkle freshly minced parsley on the bowl when I serve as a dipping sauce.
