BROWNIES

Ingredients

  • 2 squares unsweetened chocolate
  • 1/3 cup soft shortening
  • 2/3 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts

Preparation

Step 1

Melt chocolate with butter over low heat. Mix flour with baking powder and salt. Bet eggs well, then gradually beat in sugar. Blend in chocolate mixture and vanilla. Add flour mixture and mix well. Stir in nuts. Spread in greased 8" square pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes (for moist chewy brownies) or 30 minutes for (cake like brownies). Cool in pan.
