Ingredients

  • 3 pounds ground chuck
  • 1 pound hot bulk sausage
  • 3 medium onions, chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup chili powder
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp ground oregano
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 (28-ounce) cans whole tomatoes, undrained and chopped
  • 3 (16-ounce) cans kidney beans, drained

Preparation

Step 1

Combine ground chuck, sausage, onion, and garlic in a Dutch oven or large cooking dish; cook until beef is browned, stirring to crumble. Drain.
Stir in next 6 ingredients . Cover and simmer 1 hour, stirring occasionally.
Add beans, and simmer and additional 20 minutes
Yield: about 5 quarts
