Ingredients

  • 1

    stick ( 1/2c). Margarine

  • 1/2

    C sugar plus 2 TB for topping

  • 1

    egg

  • 1

    C flour

  • 1/4

    tsp baking powder

  • 6-7

    Macintosh apples

  • 1 1/2

    tsp cinnamon

  • 1/4

    C apricot jam

  • 1

    TB. Lemon juice

Directions

Heat oven to 350 and spray tart pan. In large bowl of mixer, cream the margarine and sugar at high speed. Lower to medium and add the egg. Combine the flour and baking powder and gradually add to margarine mixture. Mix. The dough will be soft. With floured fingers, push the dough into the tart pan. Arrange the apples in concentric circles., then sprinkle with remaining sugar and cinnamon. Bake for 50 minutes or until crust is brown. Let cool. In the meantime, in a small saucepan, combine apricot jam and lemon juice, mixing into a thin liquid. Remove from heat and brush gently over the entire kuchen. serve plain or with vanilla " ice cream"
