Ingredients
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1 cup sugar
- 3 eggs
- 2 cups sifted cake flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup milk
- 2 teaspoons vanilla
- Chocolte Glaze
- 1 tablespoons butter or margerine
- 1 (1 0unce) sqare unsweeten chocolate
- 1 cup sifted powder sugar
- 2 tablespoons boiling water
- Cream filling
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup corrn starch
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 cups milk
- 4 egg yolks beaten
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
Preparation
Step 1
Cream butter, gradually, Add sugar, beat at medium speed . Add eggs 1 at a time beating well after each addition. Combine flour, baking powder, and salt; add to creamed alternately with milk begainning and ending with flour mixture-mix ater each addition. Stir in vanilla. Pour batter into 2 greased and floured 9-inch round cake pans. Bake 350F. for 20 to 25 minutes or until a wooded pick comes clean- cool 10 minutes- remove from pan let cool on wire racks. Spread cream filling betwine cake layers. Spread chocolate glaze over top of cake, letting excess drips over sides-chill untill ready to serve.
Chocolate Glaze-combine butter and chocolate in top of a double boiler- bring water to a boil. Reduce heat to low-cook until chocolate melts- Let cool slightly add sugar and water Beating unil smooth.
Combine first 3 ing. in heavy sauce pan. Add milk and egg yolks stirring with wire wisk. Cook over medium heat -boil 1 minutes until thick. Stir in vanilla. Cool completly.
