Ingredients
- 2 cups raisins
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup shortening or margarine
- 11/2 cups sugar
- 3 eggs
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 4 cups flour
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 2 tsp. salt
- 11/2 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp. nutmeg
- 1/4 tsp.allspice
- 1 cup chopped nuts
- Boil raisins in water for 5 minutes. Cool. Cream shortening, sugar, eggs and vanilla. Add cooled raisins and juice. Then add mixture of remaining dry ingredients. Add nuts last.

Drop onto slightly greased cookie sheets and bake in preheated 375 F oven for 12 to 15 minutes
