    cup all-purpose flour

    cup whole wheat flour

    cup cornmeal

    tablespoon sugar

    egg whites

    cups buttermilk

    cup unsweetened applesauce

    tablespoons canola oil

    tablespoons butter, melted

  • Toppings: butter, maple syrup, confectioners' sugar, fruit, etc

Directions

In large bowl, combine first seven ingredients. In another bowl, whisk the eggs, egg whites, buttermilk, applesauce, oil, and butter; whisk into dry ingredients just until blended. Bake in preheated waffle iron according to its directions until golden brown. Serve with toppings as desired.
