Ingredients
- Spice Mix:
- 4 salmon filets (skinned and boned),
- or salmon steaks, 6 oz (720 g) each
- 1 tbsp (15 ml) olive oil
- 2 tbsp (25 ml) paprika
- 2 tbsp (25 ml) dry mustard powder
- 1 tsp (5 ml) garlic powder
- 1 tsp (5 ml) onion powder
- 1/2 tsp (2 ml) cayenne pepper
- 1 tsp (5 ml) salt
- 1 tsp (5 ml) cumin
Preparation
Step 1
Preheat oven to 350º F (180º C). Mix the spices together, and then thoroughly coat salmon
pieces with spice mix on both sides. Heat olive oil over medium-high heat in a heavy bottomed
fry pan. Sear the presentation side of the salmon first (in the case of a filet, this is the side of
the salmon that the skin wasn’t on). Gently turn over and sear other side until the spices are
slightly darkened, then bake in oven for 5 to 7 minutes, or until desired doneness
