- 2 2/3 cups sugar
- 2 tablespoons syrup
- 1 pound butter
- 6 tablespoons water
- salt, to taste
- popcorn, air-popped
1. Place first 5 ingredients in heavy saucepan. Bring to boil and cook. Stir frequently as this will burn easily.
2. Test syrup by dripping in ice water. The syrup will become hard and crack easily to your touch.
3. Pour over popcorn (about 2 big bowlfuls). Mix as you pour, then continue mixing until all popcorn is evenly coated. Mix occasionally as it cools so it doesn't form big chunks. Store in tight containers.
