Ingredients
- 2 Tbsp coconut oil, OR oil of your choice
- 1 lb cube steak or round steak, grass fed, cut into strips
- 1/2 cup onion, chopped
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 1/2 cups sliced mushrooms
- 1 cup bell peppers, red or green, sliced
- 1/2 tsp Chinese 5 spice powder
- 1 tsp freshly grated ginger
- 1/2 cup broth, beef or chicken
- 2 Tbsp liquid aminos, OR soy sauce
- optional 2 tsp arrowroot starch (for thicker sauce if desired)
Preparation
Step 1
1. Heat the oil over medium-high heat in a large skillet. Add the meat and sauté until browned, about 1 minute.
2. Stir in the onions, garlic, mushrooms and peppers. Cook until tender, about 12 minutes.
3. Sprinkle in the 5 spice and the ginger. Add the stock and aminos, stir well.
4. Bring to a boil. Turn the heat to medium and simmer, uncovered, about 3-4 minutes, or until sauce has thickened a bit, and serve.
*For a thicker sauce, mix the stock and aminos and 2 tsp arrowroot starch in a bowl before adding to the pan. Simmer 1-2 minutes or until sauce has thickened
