Ingredients
- 1 pkg. (15 oz.) refrigerated pie crust
- 2 1/4 lb. Pippin or Braeburn apples, peeled, cored and thinly sliced
- 1 c. firmly packed dark brown sugar
- 2 tbsp. all-purpose flour
- 1 tbsp. apple-pie spice
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1/4 c. butter, cut into small pieces
- 1 1/2 tbsp. milk
- 1 tbsp. granulated sugar
Preparation
Step 1
Preheat oven to 400°. Grease a deep 9-inch pie plate. Line pie plate with one of the pie crusts and set aside. Mix apples, brown sugar, flour, apple-pie spice and salt in a large bowl. Toss apples to coat. Spoon apple mixture into prepared pie plate. Dot top of mixture with butter. Brush edges of pie crust with water. Lay remaining pie crust over pie plate. Trim any excess with a knife. Press edges together and pinch to seal. Brush top with milk. Cut slits in center of pie with a sharp knife. Sprinkle top of pie with granulated sugar. Place pie on a baking sheet. Bake until crust is golden, 40-45 min. Serve hot.
