Ingredients

  • 4 tbsps vinegar
  • 2 tbsps soy sauce
  • 2 tbsps dry sherry
  • 7 oz (2/3 c) tomato paste
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 jalapeno pepper
  • 2 tbsps sunflower oil
  • 1 dried red chili, chopped into pieces
  • 1 lb steak, cut into thin pieces (or substitute add'l 1/2c beef broth)
  • salt
  • 1/2 c beef broth
  • Stevia
  • Liquid hickory smoke

Preparation

Step 1

Combine first 7 ingredients, set aside.

Add dried chili to oil
Heat oil in wok or frying pan over medium heat.
Add steak pieces, salt to taste (enough to flavor each piece)
Add beef broth.

Add the combined sauce from step 1.

Simmer for 25 minutes.

Remove from heat, add 4 drops Stevia and 1 and 1/2 tsp hickory smoke.
Stir to blend.

Remove the steak pieces for immediate serving.
Rest of the sauce can be bottled and refrigerated for months.
