Ingredients

    oz penne noodles,cooked al dente

  • Sauce:

  • 1

    Tbs olive oil

  • 2

    Tbs butter

  • 1

    small onion,finely chopped

  • 1

    tsp dried basil

  • 1/2

    tsp oregano

  • 1

    clove crushed garlic

  • 1

    cup pizza sauce(marinara sauce)

  • 1

    tsp salt(optional)

  • black pepper to taste

  • 2/3

    cup flour

  • 3

    cups low-fat milk

  • 2

    bay leaves

  • 1

    Tbs vodka

Directions

Combine oil and butter, melt over low-med. heat. Add onions and garlic,saute slowly. After about 5 min. add basil and oregano along with pizza sauce,salt and pepper. Let simmer on low until onions are soft,about 10 min. In a second pan or pot,combine milk and flour and mix until smooth.Add bay leaves and simmer on very low flame for 10 min, stirring occasionally. Remove bay leaves. Mix the sauces together until thorougly combined. Add vodka,mix and toss over hot noodles. Serve immediately. If sauce is lumpy,use an immersion blender to smooth it out. To reheat the noodles,place in pot and add 1/3 cup milk,stir until all is combined and warm again.
