Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 c. shortening (244 g.)
  • 2 c. brown sugar (500 g.)
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 c. moasses (168 g.)
  • 4 1/2 c. flour (608 g.)
  • 4 tsp. soda
  • 2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 2 tsp. ginger
  • 1 tsp. cloves
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • Sugar to dip

Preparation

Step 1

Mix thoroughly shortening, brown sugar, egg, & molasses. Blend in remaining ingredients except sugar for dipping. Cover; chill 1 hr.
Heat oven to 375°. Shape into balls. Dip & press into sugar. Place balls sugar-side up 3” apart on lightly greased baking sheet. Bake 10-12 min.
