Ingredients

  • 2 T butter
  • 1/3 c sugar
  • 1 T confectioner's sugar
  • 1/2 c red wine
  • 1/4 c Triple sec or Cointreau
  • Zest of 1/2 lemon
  • 6 whole peppercorns
  • 4 whole cloves
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 1/2 c chopped pecans (optional)
  • Vanilla ice cream or fresh fruit

Preparation

Step 1

In sm pan melt butter. Add sugars, wine, Cointreau or triple sec, lemon zest, peppercorns, cloves & cinnamon.

Bring to boil stirring until sugar is dissolved. Reduce heat & simmer until reduced by 1/3. Let cool somewhat. Strain before pouring over fruit or ice cream. Sprinkle pecans on top if desired.
