Nut Rolls

This is my absolute favorite baked good from my Mother.She always made it whenever I was visiting or brought it when she visited me

Ingredients
- Filling:
- 1 c milk
- ½ c margarine
- ½ c sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 sm cake compressed yeast
- 3 beaten eggs
- 4-1/2 to 5 c flour
- 5 c ground walnuts
- 2 c hot milk
- ½ c granulated sugar
- 6 T butter
- 2/3 c honey
- 4 beaten eggs
- ½ tsp salt
Preparation
Step 1
Scald milk. Add margarine, sugar, and salt. Stir. When cool, add yeast. Beat eggs and add. Stir. Add sifted flour a little at a time. Make firm non-sticky ball. Let rise about 1-1/2 hours. Punch down. Roll out on floured cloth. Fill with cooled filling and roll jelly roll fashion. Put on greased pans and let rise about an hour. When baking, grease top with butter to brown.
Filling: Can be made ahead of time. Scald milk. Add nuts, sugar, butter, and honey, stirring constantly. Beat eggs. Add some of nut mixture to eggs to condition eggs. Add eggs to nut mixture, stirring constantly. Add salt. When mixture is thick, take off heat. Let cool completely.
