Date-Nut Cookies

These cookies can be frozen if packed airtight.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 c. butter or margarine
  • powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 1/4 c. all-purpose flour
  • 2/3 c. finely snipped pitted dates
  • 1/2 c. chopped walnuts or pecans

Preparation

Step 1

Cream butter, ½ c. powdered sugar and the vanilla until blended. With hands, work in flour, dates and nuts. Shape into 1-inch balls. Arrange close together (cookies do not spread) on buttered cookie sheets. Bake at 300° (above center of oven to avoid excessive browning on the bottom) for 20 min. or until golden brown. Remove from sheets. Roll in powdered sugar while still warm. Cool on wire racks. Store airtight.
