Ingredients
- 1 lb orecchiette or bowtie pasta
- 2 lbs broccoli, in bite-sized pieces
- 1 lb sweet Italian sausage, in bite-sized pieces
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 tsp cayenne
- 1 tbsp butter (1 to 3)
- 1 cup chicken broth
- 1/2 cup parmesan
Preparation
Step 1
1. Bring a large pot of water to boil and add pasta.
2. Meanwhile heat olive oil over medium high heat and quickly cook the sausage.
3. Add the broccoli, garlic, butter and chicken broth. Bring to a boil, reduce to medium high and cook uncovered for 5 minutes, reducing sauce.
4. Drain pasta and pour into a serving bowl. Add the broccoli mixture and cheese, tossing well.
Notes: This was good and really quite easy. Used egg noodles in place of farfalle because we had some left over, 2 cups of broth instead of 1, which we needed to cook the broccoli, but then had to cook down a bit at the end. Left out the cayenne. This made a lot and we could have/should have frozen half. Also covered the pan when first adding the broccoli to steam it a bit. Would be good with other veggies mixed in as well.
