Ingredients
- 2/3 cup soft shortening
- 2/3 cup butter
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup brown sugar (packed)
- 2 eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla
- 3 cups Gold Medal flour
- 1 teaspoon soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup chopped pecan
- 1 (12 oz) semisweet chocolate pieces

Preparation
Step 1
Heat oven to 375.
Mix thoroughly in bowl:
2/3 cup soft shortening
2/3 cup butter
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup brown sugar (packed)
2 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla
Stir together in another bowl:
3 cups Gold Medal flour
1 teaspoon soda
1 teaspoon salt
Mix these dry ingredients into the shortening mixture.
Thoroughly work in:
1 cup chopped pecan
1 (12 oz) semisweet chocolate pieces
Drop dough by rounded teaspoonfuls 2 inches apart on ungreased baking sheet. Bake 8 to 10 minutes, or until lightly browned but still soft. Cool on wire rack.
