Creamy Cabbage & Sausage (Tim Rhodes)

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lbs. bulk pork sausage
  • 3/4 cup chopped onion
  • 10 cups coarsely chopped cabbage
  • 1 1/2 cups sour cream
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded american cheese (6 oz)
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp pepper
  • 1 1/2 cups soft bread crumbs
  • 1 tbsp. butter, melted

Preparation

Step 1

Cook sausage and onion over medium heat until sausage is brown. Drain off fata, stir in cabbage. Cook, uncovered over medium heat about 10 minutes or until cabbage is crisp-tender, stirring occasionally. Drain off any excess liquid.

Stir in sour cream, cheese, salt & pepper. Transfer sausage mixture to a 3 quart baking dish.

In a small bowl, mix bread crumbs, melted butter and sprinkle over sausage mixture. Bake uncovered @ 375 for 20 minutes of until bread crumbs are golden.
