Ingredients
- Preparation of Pan: (circular - no centre)
- Grease sides of pan
- Cream together -
- 1/3 cup butter
- 1 cup brown sugar
- Spread over bottom of pan
- place sliced bananas in this sugar mixture
- dot with maraschino cherries
- Recipe for Cake Batter
- Cream together -
- 1/3 cup shortening
- 1 1/4 cup sugar
- Add 2 beaten eggs
- Sift together -
- 1 1/2 cup flour
- 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 3/4 tsp. soda
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- Add alternately to mixture -
- 1 cup mashed bananas
- 1/2 cup sour milk
- Add 1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
Step 1
Pour into pan. Bake at 385 for 40 - 50 minutes. Turn onto cake rack to cool. Before serving fill centre with 1 cup sweetened whipped cream mixed with 1/2 cup mashed bananas.
