Substitutes for pies

Ingredients

  • PIE CRUST: SUBSTITUTE 3 ICE COLD TABLESPOONS OF VODKA + 2 TABLESPOONS OF WATER (5 TOTAL) TO DOUGH MIXTURE. This will make a flakier pie crust.
  • When making Pumpkin Pie, using canned pumpkin, you are usually left with a 1/3 cup. Use i1/3 cup pumpkin = 1 banana}. Use in smoothies.
  • Or, 1/3 + 1/3 + 1/3= 1 cup of pumpkin for pies or muffins. Pumpkin freezes well. When defrosting, pumpkin will appear watery. Just mix together to get the pureed consistency.

Step 1

Use a conversion table for baking.

1 cup of sugar = 7 ounces.
1 cup of liquid = 8 ounces.

So there is a difference in dry and wet measurements.
