Picnic Cake - Annette

Ingredients

  • Soak for 10 minutes or more and whip with egg beater:
  • 1 cup chopped dates 1 1/2 cups hot water
  • Cream: 3/4 c. shortening 1 cup sugar 2 eggs
  • Add to cream mixture:
  • 1 tsp. soda 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. salt 1 1/2 c. flour
  • Add 1 tsp. vanilla and date mixture, blend.
  • Put in pan and top with 1 cup chocolate chips, 1/2 cup brown sugar and 1/2 cup chopped nuts.

BAKE 350° for 45 minutes.
