Chicken in a Pot

Ingredients

  • 2 carrots, sliced
  • 2 onions, sliced
  • 2 celery stalks, cut into 1" pieces
  • 3 - 4 lb. whole fryer chicken
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. ground black pepper
  • 1/2 cup water, chicken broth or white wine
  • 1/2 tsp. dried basil

Preparation

Step 1

Put carrots, onion, and celery in bottom of crock-pot. Place whole fryer chicken on top of vegetables. Sprinkle with salt and pepper and add liquid. Sprinkle basil over the top. Cover and cook on low for 8 to 10 hours. Remove chicken and vegetables with spatula.
