Ginger Snaps

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup shortening
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup light molasses
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tsp soda
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/2 tsp cloves
  • 1/2 tsp ginger
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp salt

Preparation

Step 1

Melt shortening in a large saucepan over low heat. Remove from heat, let cool. Add sugar, molasses, and egg. Beat well. Sift together flour and spices, add to first mixture. Mix well, chill, then form into balls. Roll in sugar and place on greased cookie sheet. Bake at 375° for 8 to 10 minutes
