Jerry's Immortal Baked Beans

Any type of baked beans can be used, but depending on how sweet they are, adjust brown sugar to taste.

Ingredients

  • Nonstick cooking spray
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 1 cup diced green bell pepper
  • 3 cans (16 ounces each) baked beans*
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar, packed, or to taste*
  • 2 tablespoons prepared (yellow) mustard
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 bacon slices, optional

Preparation

Step 1

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

2. Spray a 13 X 9-inch baking dish with nonstick spray. Pour beans with their liquid into dish. Peel and coarsely chop onion, and add. Seed and dice bell pepper, and add.

3. Add all remaining ingredients except bacon. Stir gently, but thoroughly, until mixed well. Place bacon strips on top, if desired.

4. Bake, uncovered, 30 to 35 minutes or until bubbly and onion and pepper are tender. Serve at once, or cover with foil and leave in a warm oven (turned off) until ready to serve.
