French Onion Soup AuGratin

Ingredients
- 4 large sweet onions, thinly sliced
- 4 T butter
- 4 cans beef broth
- 1/2 C dry Sherry
- 2 t worcestershire sauce
- dash of pepper
- 6 slices french bread, sliced 1/2 " thick, toasted
- 3/4 parmesan cheese
- 5 slices gruyere or swiss cheese

Preparation
Step 1
In a large sauce pan, cook onion in butter until tender but not brown, about 20 minutes. Add beef broth, sherry, worcestershire and pepper. Bring to a boil. Pour into 6 bowls. Float a slice of french bread in each, sprinkle generously with parmesan and top each with a slice of cheese.
