Ingredients
- 4 cups Gemelli or rotini pasta (1L)
- 3 cups Small broccoli florets
- 2 tbsp Olive oil
- 1 Sweet yellow pepper, chopped
- 1 Onion, chopped
- 4 Cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp Salt
- 1/2 tsp Each pepper and granulated sugar
- 4 large tomatoes, chopped
- 1/3 cup Shredded basil
- 1/4 cup freshly grated Pecorino Romano cheese

Preparation
Step 1
In a pot of boiling salted water, cook pasta for 6 minutes. Add broccoli; cook for 2 to 3 minutes or until pasta is tender but firm and broccoli is tender-crisp. Drain, reserving 1/4 cup of the liquid; return pasta mixture to pot.
Meanwhile, in a large skillet, heat oil over medium heat; cook yellow pepper, onion and garlic for about 5 minutes or until onions are softened. Stir in reserved liquid, salt, pepper and sugar; bring to boil. Pour over pasta mixture Add tomatoes, basil and cheese; toss.
