Ingredients
- Filling:
- Deep Dish pie crust
- 16 oz ground sausage,
- 1 T olive oil,
- 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper,
- 2 T minced garlic,
- 1 white onion - thinly sliced,
- 3/4 c both heavy cream & milk,
- 7 eggs,
- 1/2 tsp salt,
- 1/4 tsp pepper,
- 1 box frozen chopped spinach - thawed & drained,
- 1/2 c each cheddar, swiss & monterey jack cheese - shredded
Preparation
Step 1
Preheat oven to 325
Filling:
1. In a saucepan, brown sausage, olive oil, cayenne & garlic. Place on paper towel to drain.
2. Add onions to pan & cook for 10-15 minutes on med-high heat to carmelize.
3. In a mixing bowl whisk together heavy cream, milk, eggs, salt & pepper.
4. In another bowl mix together the three cheeses.
Assembly:
1. Layer sausage, onions, spinach & most of the cheese in the crust.
2. Slowly pour egg mixture over top. Sprinkle with remaining cheese.
3. Bake for 45 minutes or until center is set.
