Ingredients
- 1 to 1 1/4 lb boneless top round 1" thick
- 1 cup soy sauce
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 1 tsp. chopped ginger
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 Tbsp cornstarch
- 1 cup cold water
- 1/4 cup sliced scallions
Preparation
Step 1
1. preheat broiler on high in small sauce pan, combine soy sauce, sugar, ginger and garlic stirring till sugar is dissolved.
2. remove 1/2 cup for basting
3. Place steak on rack of broiler pan, brush generously with basting sauce.
4. broil 4" from heat for 10 min. turn and brush with remaining sauce. Broil and additional 5-6 minutes until desired doneness.
5. mix cornstarch with water and add in saucepan. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly until thickened 8-10 min.
6. let stand for 2 minutes. Slice diagonally across grain. Stir scallions inot sauce and serve with steak.
