  • 6 large eggs whites
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup butter
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 3 tsp baking powder

Step 1

Cream sugar and butter. Separate eggs, beat egg whites until stiff but not dry. Sift flour and baking powder. Add to creamed mixture. Mix in milk also. Add vanilla then fold in egg whites. Mix.. Bake in 350 oven

Filling: 1 cup water 3T sugar 1 cup freshly grated coconut. Combine, Place in pan on stove top. Bring to a boil and boil for 3 minutes. Put between layers of cake.
Frosting: 1 1/2 c sugar 1 T light corn syrup 3/4 c water 2 egg whites pinch of cream of tartar. 1 c freshly grated coconut.
Mix sugar, water and corn syrup. Bring to a boil. Do not stir after it begins to boil. When syrup reaches 240 on candy thermometer, take off heat. Beat 2 egg whites and pinch of cream of tartar until stiff, pour in a small stream and beat until thick enough to spread. Add coconut
