Green Bean Casserole

A family favorite at the holidays or any time we get together

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 to 2 lbs. fresh green beans
  • 1 can of cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 large can of sliced water chestnuts- diced
  • 1 large can of Durkee’s French Fried Onions

Preparation

Step 1

1) Wash, snip ends and cut string beans into thirds.
2) Microwave for 2 minutes, mix, 2 minutes more and mix. Repeat this 2 more times or until they are still green and somewhat firm.
3) Drain any liquid (there will only be a little).
4) Add the diced water chestnuts and soup and mix thoroughly.
5) Bake in a 350 degree oven for 45 minutes or until the beans are tender.
6) Take out of the oven and sprinkle the onions on top.
7) Place back in the oven until the onions are brown.
