Barb's Lasagna

Ingredients

  • Sauce:
  • 1 cup minced onion 1 clove minced garlic
  • 1 1/2 lb. very lean ground beef
  • Large (2#-3oz.) can tomatoes 6 oz. can tomato paste
  • 8 oz. can tomato sauce 1/2 cup red wine
  • 1 tsp. salt 2 Tb. sugar
  • 1 tsp. basil 2 tsp. oregano
  • 2 Tb. Worcestershire sauce Few drops Tobasco sauce
  • Lasagna:
  • 1 # lasagna noodles (12 noodles) Sm. carton skim Ricotta cheese
  • 1 1/2 lb. low fat Mozzarella cheese 4-6 oz. Parmesan cheese

Preparation

Step 1

In Dutch oven: brown gr. beef, onion, & garlic. Add remaining ingredients. Cover & simmer 1 hour.

Cook noodles (or no-cook noodles work fine). Spread thin layer of sauce in 9x13 pan. Lay 4 noodles over sauce. Spread with layer of sauce. Dot with Ricotta cheese. Sprinkle Parmesan generously. Cover with mozzarella.
Repeat layers until all ingredients are used. (3 layers of noodles), ending with sauce and cheeses.
Bake uncovered at 350 degrees for about 40 minutes.
If frozen, cook covered at 350 degrees about 45 minutes. Uncover and cook until brown.
