Waffles: Basic Waffle Batter

This versatile batter works with any number of flavorings, a mixture of flours, and diverse toppings. For dessert waffles, increase the amount of sugar by at least 1 tablespoon

Ingredients
- 2 large eggs
- 1 1/2 cups milk
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted, or 1/2 cup canola oil
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 3 tablespoons sugar
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Preparation
Step 1
In a medium bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, butter, and vanilla.
In a large bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients, then pour in the egg mixture. Whisk until mostly smooth, with just a few lumps.
Makes 4-8 waffles.
