- • 2-1/2 cups all purpose flour
- • 1 teaspoon baking soda
- • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- • 1/4 teaspoon salt
- • 1-1/2 cups packed brown sugar
- • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- • 2 large eggs
- • 1 teaspoon vanilla
- • 1 cup dairy sour cream
- • 1 cup coarsely chopped walnuts ** browned butter icing
Preparation
Step 1
Cookies : In a bowl, combine flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt; set aside.
In a large bowl combine brown sugar and butter; beat with an electric mixer on medium speed until mixture is fluffy. Add dry ingredients and dairy sour cream. Mix well. By hand, stir in chopped nuts. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto a greased cookie sheet. Bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for about 10 minutes or until cookies are set. Transfer cookies onto a wire rack; cool completely.
Frost with Browned Butter Icing.
** Browned Butter Icing: In small saucepan heat 1/4 cup butter over medium heat, just until butter turns the color of light brown sugar. Remove from heat. Stir in 2 cups of powdered sugar and enough boiling water (1-2 teaspoons) to make icing of spreading consistency. Frost cookies immediately. If frosting becomes grainy, soften with a few more drops of hot water.
