Ingredients
- Broth:
- 1 whole chicken
- Few extra chicken parts
- 4 - 6 ribs of celery
- Carrots
- Onion
- Bay Leaf
- Salt & Pepper
- Additional ingredients:
- Potatoes
- Egg noodles
- Bisquick for dumplings if desired
Preparation
Step 1
1. Fill a stock pot with enough water to completely cover the chicken.
2. Put chicken in along with some carrots, celery, onion, bay leaf, and some salt and pepper.
3. Boil for 1 to 1 1/2 hours.
4. Remove chicken to cool for a while. Also remove bay leaf and discard.
5. Remove all chicken from the bones.
6. Return chicken to the pot.
7. Add potatoes at this time if desired.
8. About 8 minutes before desired eating time, add some egg noodles if desired.
9. Mix up some drop dumpling mix from bisquick and add to soup if desired. Dumplings need to cook for 20 minutes. Ten min with lid on and ten with lid off.
