Preparation
Step 1
Wrap a long piece of dental floss around the width of the cake.
Adjust the level of the dental floss so it is where you want to delineate the layers.
Use toothpicks to delineate the layers and assure the cut is even.
Cross the ends of the dental floss where they meet and continue to pull the two ends in opposite directions until the floss cuts through the entire cake and splits it into two layers.
Repeat splitting the cake for any remaining layers needed.
