Baked Ziti Casserole

Layers of pasta, meat sauce and mozzarella cheese baked together for a satisfying family casserole

Ingredients

  • 12 ounces penne pasta
  • 1 pound ground beef or sausage -- (or 1/2 of each)
  • 1 cup onion -- chopped
  • 1 can (15 oz.) Contadina Italian style tom. sauce
  • 1 can (14.5 oz.) Contadina Recipe-Ready Diced Tomatoes with Italian Herbs
  • 1 can (6 oz.) Contadina Italian Paste with Roasted Garlic
  • 4 ounces mozzarella cheese -- shredded

Preparation

Step 1

Cook pasta according to package; drain. Cook meat and onion in large skillet over medium-high heat, 5 minutes; drain.


Stir in tomato sauce, undrained tomatoes, tomato paste and 1/2 cup water; cook, stirring occasionally, 10 minutes.


Layer half pasta, half sauce and half cheese in 13 x 9 baking dish; repeat. Cover and bake in preheated 350 oven for 20 minutes.
