Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 large onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic crushed
  • 3 tbsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 3 tsp ground cumin
  • 3 tsp dried oregano
  • 2 tsp cocoa
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper sauce
  • 1 large can (28 oz)crushed tomatoes
  • 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes
  • 1 can black beans (undrained) - you can use kidney beans too

Preparation

Step 1

Cook beef, onion and garlic in large pot until beef is brown, drain

Stir in all spices and seasonings and brown for a about 2 min. Then add tomatoes and hot sauce - heat to boiling.

Cover and simmer for 1 hr stirring occasionally

Stir in beans. Heat to boiling, reduce heat to low and simmer uncovered for another 15 min.
