Sweet and sour chicken or pork

Quick and easy dinner, not to many ingredients and very adaptable.

Ingredients

  • Sauce:
  • 2 cups brown sugar
  • 1-1/2 cups vinegar
  • 2 tblsp paprika
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1 lg can chunk pineapple
  • 1 tsp grated garlic
  • 2 tsp grated ginger
  • 2 tblsp water
  • 4 tblsp cornstarch
  • Ingredients for stir fry:
  • 4 chicken breast, or 1 lb pork cut into cubes
  • 1 egg white
  • 2 tsp soy sauce
  • 1 tblsp cornstarch
  • 3/4 cup flour
  • 1 tsp each garlic and ginger
  • Assorted veg:
  • Celery, red or green bell, carrots, onions, cabbage, mushrooms, cut in chunks for stir fry.

Preparation

Step 1

Mix the meat and the batter ingredients and let them sit while you cut veg and make the sauce. In a large skillet fry the meat in batches In a little oil and let them drain. To the panadd your veg and cook for 3 minutes or so. Add the meat back into the pot and add some sauce. Cook for a few minutes, letting the flavors blend and making sure meat is cooked through. Serve with rice.
