Ingredients
- 6 lemons
- 2 cups good-quality vodka
- 1/2 gal 1% milk
- 1 cup sugar

Step 1
Remove zest from lemons with a veg peeler, reserving fruit for another use. Scrape any white pith from strips, soak zest in vodka at room temp for 4 days. Strain through a fine-mesh sieve into a liquid measuring cup, discard zest, then transfer vodka to a 2 qt glass bottle. Simmer milk & sugar in heavy saucepan, uncovered, stirring occasionally, until reduced to about 4 cups. Skim off any foam. Cool completely, add to vodka, Chill 2 hrs.
Limoncella keeps, chilled, 1 month.
Shake before serving.
