Ingredients
- 1 9-inch deep dish Pie Crust
- 12 *12 slices bacon, crisply fried and crumbled.
- 1 cup shredded Swiss Cheese
- 1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
- 1/3 cup finely chopped onion
- 4 eggs
- 1 ½ cups half-n-half
- ½ tsp salt
- ¼ tsp pepper
- 1/8 tsp cayenne red pepper
Preparation
Step 1
Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
Place bacon in large, deep skillet. Cook over medium high heat until evenly brown. Drain, crumble and set aside.
In a large bowl, whip together eggs, cream, salt, and pepper.
Stir bacon and ¾ cup of swiss and cheddar cheeses and transfer to pie crust.
Top with remaining cheese.
Bake uncovered in preheated oven for 35 minutes, or until bubbly and lightly browned. Knife inserted in center should come out clean.
Let stand for 10 minutes
*Optional Substitutions for bacon:
1 ½-2 cup cooked chicken or turkey
7 ½ oz crabmeat
1 ½ cup diced ham mixed with ¼ cup dry bread crumbs
2 cups cooked sausage.
