Ingredients
- 16 oz green split peas
- ham & bone
- 1 medium onion
- 2 carrots
- 2 stalks celery
- 1 chicken boullion cube
- 10 cups water
Preparation
Step 1
Before cooking dried peas always examine, sort, and rinse well.
Put water in a large pot. Add bone,ham,boullion cube, sliced carrots, chopped celery, chopped onion and peas.
Bring to a boil. Cover and reduce heat and simmer about 2 hrs., stirring occasionally to keep peas from sticking on the bottom.
When done, remove bone. Soup is ready to enjoy.If reheating it at a later time, soup will be thick but low and slow heat will thin it out again.
