Sour Cream Drops

Ingredients

  • Frosting:
  • 1/4 cup shortening
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 1/3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp each baking soda, baking powder and salt
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1/2 cup confectioners' sugar
  • 1/4 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3 to 4 tsps hot water

Preparation

Step 1

In a large bowl, cream shortening and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg, sour cream and vanilla. Combine the flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt; add to creamed mixture and mix well. Chill for a least 1 hour.
Drop by tablespoonfuls 2 inches apart onto greased baking sheets. Bake at 425 degrees for 7-8 minutes or until lightly browned. Remove to wire racks to cool.
For frosting, melt butter in a saucepan until golden brown; stir in confectioners' sugar, vanilla and enough water to achieve a spreading consistency. Frost cooled cookies.
